Here is a list of recipes which I have tested and was very pleased with. I strongly encourage you to try these out. If I can produce something tasty then the recipe is confirmed and guaranteed as fool proof.
If you have bread recipes which you particularly like then please add them to the comments below. I’ll enjoy trying out your suggestions. But please do not violate any copyright laws. A reference to a recipe is just as good as the recipe itself.

Hi Russ. Thanks for the recipe. Wow, that’s almost a complete meal wrapped in flour and then baked in just 40 mins. Someone who wants this much food cooked this fast must be a maniacal glutton or…..um….yeah…..
I’ll out this recipe in a few weeks time. I can imagine this being really delicious on a picnic with a glass of wine. Cheers.
James: Michelle is completely okay with my cooking of spuds. She positively encourages it after my disasterous attempts to cook rice dishes. My claypot chicken rice has a habbit of turning out as savory chicken porridge.

Nigel Slater wrote about how he learnt how to bake bread in The Observer last Sunday. It includes a couple of recipes as well, but the moment I saw the title, it brought, well, you to mind!
As for dumb mistakes and disasters… well, my mother forgot to use yeast the first time she baked bread. This was before I was born, so I don’t quite know how it turned out, just that my father loves to tell that story. And the first time I cooked rice, it was most definitely porridge. I’m decent enough at it now… or at least, when I was still cooking regularly, not having done it all that often in the last oh… six years!
